Lovely visit. We are English Heritage members, so we got in free!
Dog friendly and kind and knowledgeable lady showed us round.
Nice young chap in the coffee shop, cream tea to finish off🙂
Friendly and welcoming Castle for Everyone. We went here looking for somewhere historic to visit. We were blown away by this castle, the staff, the welcome and the passion of the team at Dundonald Castle. We arrived at approximately 1pm and had a 30 minute wait. We had a cup of tea (that was lush) and made our way to the castle. (We had called to enquire if dogs were welcome on the site, yes they are, they are even welcomed inside the monument. The view on a clear day is fantastic. The castle guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. The cafe staff were friendly and attentive. If you have a question about anything here simply ask it as nothing is too much for this crew. If you are nearby pop in. If you like aeroplanes then go along this is where the planes fly low and drop their landing gear in clear view.
What a lovely atmosphere! There were families around the castle grounds. A very busy park and cafe. All charity run. It was modest but very rich in history. We enjoyed a few hours here, overlooking the whole town. Beautiful castle. If you’re in the area, and it’s nice weather, I would highly recommend it.
Excellent historical site and the visitor centre has a lovely cafe to have a quick bit to eat and a drink. Guided tour around the castle by passionate local volunteers is highly recommended!
At the moment the castle is undergoing repairs to make it safe for the future but it was still a good tour and the tour guide was knowledgeable and was a good laugh to boot. Nice cafe and gift shop in one place with a small but interesting museum to one side. Great views from the top of the castle over the village. A worth while walk up the steep but winding path.
