Alison was an absolute life saver for my wedding dress! Wedding dress alteration review: I purchased my wedding dress online, and for the most part if fit, but needed some alterations to make it perfect. I had taken it to a shop in Preston for a couple of alterations, but I wasn't very happy and came across The Lancashire Seamstress. I decided to try a different alteration shop at this point as I didn't feel completely at ease going back again for the third time to the shop in Preston. After having an initial consultation with Alison, I felt so much more at ease, Alison really knows her stuff and is very confident in her profession! The work Alison did for me included more or less reversing all the alterations I had at the Preston shop (which I was grateful for!) and providing corrected alterations - new pads for and lifting of the bust, bringing the waist in, on Alison's suggestion removing my corset and replacing this with a zip (I was blown away with this work, you would never have known the dress had a corset and Alison did this with very short notice! it was definitely a good call!). Alison got all my alterations done to an incredible standard in a very short space of time and I could not be more grateful! Alison was recommended to me by a friend. I needed a dress shortened but was fearful I would make a botch of it myself! The whole experience, from booking the initial appointment - for advice- online to collecting the finished garment was fast and efficient. Alison is an excellent seamstress ( rare, these days); my shortened dress is perfect!
Alison is absolutely brilliant at what she does, she has recently altered my wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses and a few other bits and she has done a perfect job. Its a big relief when you find someone so good at what they do especially for something as important as your wedding dress!! Her studio is so idyllic and in a very beautiful location.
I have recently had a double fastening zip replaced by The Lancashire Seamstress in an outdoor jacket because the original one was damaged and would not work. This was in a Paramo coat and would have cost several hundred pounds to replace. This is not the first time I have asked Alison to undertake repairs or alterations. I have always found Alison to be friendly, professional and knowledgeable. She is customer focused and is keen to hear one's views and ideas on the work to be undertaken. Her work, for me, has always been of the highest quality and this was the case with the zip. If I had not known that it was a new zip I would not have known any difference. I have no problems in recommending he to anyone who needs any alterations carrying out.
Alison is amazing and incredibly talented in her profession. After being informed that my wedding dress provider was no longer offering alterations, I approached Alison with a dress that was 3-4 sizes too big and only two months until my wedding. From the first appointment, Alison instantly settled any anxiety I had. She helped me make crucial decisions about the dress and worked wonders! By my second appointment, Alison had transformed my dress completely. I couldn’t be happier with her service and expertise. Alison also helped me to pick out a hair piece, colour for shoes, and helped my mum pick a fascinator (handmade by Alison) which she received a million compliments on!
