Was overnight for a conference. Room was fine but basic, no fridge and the coffee cups were dirty but apart from that sufficient for an overnight. Pricey bar £6 a bottled beer and £8 a pint. Buffet breakfast was excellent. All in all a decent stay but elements of the hotel need some upgrading
Dunblane Hydro Hotel is a stunning building with an impressive historic facade and a beautiful setting that makes for a lovely first impression. The grandeur of the exterior is complemented by charming views, creating a peaceful and scenic atmosphere.
The dining experience was a highlight, with delicious food that was well-prepared and enjoyable. The menu offered a good selection, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every dish.
However, the service did not quite meet expectations, especially considering the hotel’s Hilton branding. Staff were polite but lacked the attentiveness and efficiency one might expect from a hotel of this standard. There were moments when service felt slow or disorganised, which took away from the overall experience.
Additionally, while the hotel still retains much of its character, the interior—both in the rooms and communal areas—feels like it could use some attention. Some areas appear a little worn and would benefit from a refresh to better match the elegance of the building itself.
Overall, Dunblane Hydro has a lot of potential and offers a great setting with excellent food, but improvements in service and upkeep would elevate it to the level one would expect from a Hilton hotel.
Stayed here a couple of times and each time has always felt like a treat. The staff are professional and informative and never make you feel rushed - the free cookies on arrival are a very nice touch. The room we stayed in was spacious but still felt cosy, however there were no blackout curtains in this room so felt it could’ve been slightly darker for sleeping. That said, the bed was extremely comfortable and we did sleep well. Highlight of the visit was the bar where luxurious cocktails are served - highly recommend the Golden Postbox.
What a grand old beauty set on the hill overlooking Dunblane, that was all in all, excellent value for money. It exceeded our expectations after reading some less than positive reviews. The room was perfectly adequate, clean, with comfortable bedding and a clean bathroom. The breakfast had all the usual choices, located in a beautiful big dining room.
It is a gorgeous drive up to the property through the grounds. Some reviews had given the perception it was tired inside. However, we appreciated that it wasn't a fancy 5 star unaffordable property. It still had the wow factor of a beautiful old estate, and felt homely.
We would 100% recommend staying here.
Stayed here as part of a business trip during the week. Room was small, tired and needed a refresh. There were marks all over the carpet, the curtains didn’t shut properly, the grout in the bathroom was coming out and the shower was cold in the morning. Wouldn’t stay here again based on this alone.
We had dinner in the lounge on the night, which was a small basic selection of food. I had the burger which was actually delicious and reasonably priced. £58 for 2 burgers, with chips, a pint and a gin with slimline tonic. Service was at the bar, but good quality and pretty quick.
The conference was held at the hotel, and was good facilities. Room was spacious, quiet and far enough away from guests to not cause disruption. Catering was excellent & very busy throughout the day.
Parking was included, for free, at the hotel.
Hotel gym available, external from the hotel, contains a pool.
Breakfast was lovely. Good selection, long service times, good quality.
